No problems this time

In contrast to a previous experience, this time I managed to purchase a new stop valve for the washing machine, remove the old one, fit the new one in place, connect the (new) washing machine, turn the water back on, without having to rush to the DIY shop just before closing time, or call the emergency plumber. Perhaps I'm learning something. One thing I did risk was starting the job on Saturday evening, with the shops, as before, firmly closed until Monday. Still, am now writing this, rather than cringing in the corner at the thought of the bill.... Washing machines here are usually situated in the bath/shower room, which is usually a 'wet' room, with a central drain such as in a swimming pool shower area. This means you can chuck as much water around as you like without worrying too much. The Finnish regulations are strict though - without the stop valve for the washing machine (even with the 'wet' room), our insurance would be invalid - Similarly for the dish washer. Then they have an electric sauna heater on which you throw large quantities of water. Strange but true.
