Getting to the root of the problem (part 3)

A week later, working a few hours here and there, and this was the view: It still wasn't looking even remotely like moving even an inch at this stage!
Tree stumps really have an iceberg quality to them. You can see here , (above and below) the number of roots which we had to get through. The problem was that they had to be cut twice (and sometimes a third or fourth time, as I went deeper, and thus wider.
Here in the foreground are what are to be the first of many rocks encountered, with the stump itself being firmly attached to two very large rocks, one of which was simply buried where it lay!
