Things the wife should never know about
The psych took our car for the katsastus (MOT/NCT) recently, and much to my surprise it passed first time. Those of you that know of the trials and tribulations of the various old wrecks we have attempted to get through MOTs and NCTs over the last few years (2 old minis, an astra, a 1981 saab, and a clutch eating vento), will appreciate the surprise and relief. I will confess that it was much easier for me to let my better half do the dirty work, as I have had my fair share of sitting nervously in a waiting room, only to be told by a bemused inspector that this is the fourth time my car has failed the emissions test, or suchlike. (Although in my defence, the (LHD, Finnish) Saab passed an MOT with original headlights pointing the wrong way, and a speedo in Km's, completely illegal. At the second MOT a year later, a different garage informed me of this, and suggested I return to the first place, 'cos he wasn't about to turn a blind eye!). Anyway, the P got chatting to the fellow next to her in the waiting room, and it turned out he had a thing for old cars. He, in fact, owns ten of them, but confessed that his wife only knows of the existence of 4 of them. The wife in question must be a) unbelievably trusting, b) lacking in intelligence, or c) Knows all about it, and is grateful that he spends all his time with the cars, and not other women. Rather in the vein of certain Manta/Landrover owners that I know of, he said that he bought one of the cars, and then bought another identical version for bits, and is now actually rebuilding both of them. How can you hide 6 cars though? and what happens - do the known cars get rotated? 'But I'm sure this cars colour was blue!': 'No, no, you're mistaken, it was yellow, and always has been...'. Or, like the mysteries of the contents of womens handbags and washbags from a male perspective, perhaps she's just to polite (browbeaten?) to ask what on earth is going on.

Congratulations are the order of the day for you too. (on the NCT front.)
Our aging, but very precious Rover is due any minute to go again. We are assured by Paddy that it is in good form, but bbil drove it the other day and thought the engine sounded very ropey.
So please keep your finger's crossed for us.
