Winter views

Some winter photos for your enjoyment. As it's -9 out I didn't particularly want to spend ages setting up the shots, so somewhat amateurish! These are taken just around the corner from here, and, so I am told, this is a beautiful area in the summer. There is a skidoo trail running around here on the ice, and people are icehole fishing (like normal fishing, but you sit and freeze over a small hole in the ice with a piece of string for as long as you can stand it, and then go home.), but i'm not sure the ice is yet thick enough to feel secure walking on it. We have enjoyed the purchase of an inverted plastic dustbin lid, complete with handles, required kit for all places where a steep snow covered slope presents the opportunity to behave like a small child ( Yes, count my wife in!), and very similar to that possessed by viking longship (no, not the ability to behave like said small child). I think it's called a Lautanen (Plate) in Finnish, because of the similarity of appearance. Anyhow, good fun was had, and now two small and tired children are in bed, and two large, tired adults are about to enjoy a meal.
